The IDDeal Life at The IDDeal Place: Week 1
We are home at last!
This week was one we’ll never forget.
Five incredible residents officially moved into The IDDeal Place and began the next chapter of their lives. While every family wondered what those first few days might bring, the answer has been more beautiful than we could have imagined. The smiles, confidence, laughter, and growing independence we’ve witnessed in just one week have exceeded every expectation.
Our First Round of Residents Have Settled-In Very Well!
Jessica has embraced her new home with such happiness. She is becoming more independent every day, taking pride in doing things for herself and truly making her apartment feel like home. When I walk in every morning to her apartment I am greeted with a huge smile and a hug!
Lexy has settled in so well. She loves her pink princess palace! Her favorite part of the day is our evening gathering talking and laughing and creating beautiful bonds. Lexy made sure that we had our first Taco Tuesday – as everyone knows Lexy loves her food! She is looking forward to this weekend spending time with her girls.
Keefer has been amazing. He confidently manages his schedule and transportation, and is so happy in his new digs. Him and Josh have nicknamed their apartment “The Suite Life of Keefer and Josh”
Josh, who is new to our IDDeal family, has jumped right in making friends. His knowledge of legos and Lord of the Rings is uncanny! He can recite the entire movie! Everyday when he returns from his job at the Hab Center he comes to visit the girls and loves to hang out. Him ad Keefer are always willing to help wherever they can.
Kim has absolutely blossomed. She has prepared her own breakfast every morning, completed her laundry with very little assistance, and hasn’t stopped smiling. For the last ten years Kim has had to rotate between Denise and John and I and now she has a permanent home that she loves. There have been zero meltdowns!!!
Our evenings are quickly becoming everyone’s favorite part of the day. After dinner, everyone gathers in the community room where we’ve enjoyed movies, caught up on Big Brother, laughed together, and turned on the disco lights for an impromptu dance party. Our very first Taco Tuesday was a huge success thanks to Chef John, and we look so forward to this weekly tradition.
One of the most meaningful moments happens every night before everyone heads home to their apartments.
Everyone shares something about their day. Sometimes it’s something they accomplished. Sometimes it’s something that made them laugh. Sometimes it’s simply sharing how grateful they are to be living at

Those few minutes remind all of us why this community was created.
