The IDDeal Life at The IDDeal Place: Week 3

This week, we’re finding our rhythm.

Three weeks in, and something pretty amazing is happening at The IDDeal Place…

We’re finding our rhythm.

The excitement of moving in is turning into routines, responsibilities, friendships and independence. The IDDeal Place isn’t just where our residents live anymore — it’s HOME.

Learning to Live Independently

Monday night marked our very first resident onboarding session in partnership with Autism After 21, led by Rod and Darius, who have years of experience helping adults with I/DD build the skills needed to live more independently.

This is exactly what The IDDeal Life is all about — learning, growing and gaining confidence one skill at a time

Our First IDDeal Celebration!

We celebrated Lexy’s birthday with the very first party at The IDDeal Place!

Mississippi Sweets helped make it delicious — and then made the celebration even sweeter by offering to donate a meal every week for our residents!

We are so grateful for community partners who believe in what we are building here.

Making Her Space Her Own

Jessica continues to feel better each day and has been busy making her room truly tell the story of Jessica — filling it with the things she loves and creating a space that feels completely hers.

Exploring the Neighborhood

Danielle took Kim out last Saturday to explore the new neighborhood and discover some of the places around Kim’s new home.

Every outing is another opportunity to practice independence, make choices and become part of the greater community.

Even the Trash is IDDeal!

Who knew taking out the trash could make us so happy?!

Our nightly trash run has become a team effort. Everyone pitches in, works together and gets the job done. It may seem like a little thing, but these everyday responsibilities are exactly what independent living is all about.

AND THE BIG NEWS OF THE WEEK… KIM GOT THE JOB!!!

Kim is officially returning to Publix! Thanks to the incredible advocacy and support of Ken and Ruth, Kim starts Sunday and could not be more excited to continue her Publix career. We are SO proud of her!

And if you come for a tour, there is a very good chance Jessica and Lexy will be waiting to greet you! They are so proud of their new home, and they love helping us show people around, and they make sure every visitor leaves with a hug.

Week 3 reminded us that independence isn’t always one giant milestone.

✅ Sometimes it’s waiting for your own ride.
✅ Exploring your neighborhood.
✅ Taking out the trash.
✅ Starting a job.
✅ Decorating your bedroom.
✅ Or proudly welcoming someone into your home.

These little moments are actually the BIG moments.

And this is only Week 3.

This is The IDDeal Life.
